THREE CHOIRS CONCERT AT CONCORDIA
Music Organizations at Concordia College will present the Three Choirs Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in Memorial Auditorium.
The choirs will perform a variety of music including works by Franz Schubert and Daniel Gawthrop, and a both a Yiddish folk song and a traditional folk song of the Xhosa people of South Africa.
Cantabile, a choir of first-year female students, and Männerchor, a choir of first-year male students, are both under the direction of Michael Culloton ’98. For the past eight years Culloton has been the artistic director of the Choral Arts Ensemble and Honors Choirs, two community organizations based in Rochester, Minn. Previous to these positions, he was the choral director at Winona Senior High School and assistant conductor of the National Lutheran Choir.
Bel Canto, a choral ensemble of approximately 65 first-year and upperclass women, is conducted by Dr. Julie Hagen, assistant professor of music. Hagen, an active choral musician, has performed at divisional and national conventions of the American Choral Director’s Association and directed honors choirs in New York state.
The concert is free and open to the public.
