CONCORDIA CHAPEL CHOIR TO PERFORM HOME CONCERT

The Concordia Chapel Choir will present a Home Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, in Memorial Auditorium. The concert concludes the choir’s spring tour.
A blend of more than 90 voices creates the sound of the Concordia Chapel Choir. Originally created to enrich the music of Concordia’s morning chapel services, the ensemble now performs in concert and tours annually. The choir of men and women in their sophomore, junior or senior years, is an integral part of the much-loved annual Concordia Christmas Concerts.
The concert program will feature psalm settings from several centuries, a Lenten work by Johannes Brahms, a set of pieces by Minnesota-based composers, and several folk songs and spirituals featuring student soloists. One portion of the program will be a musical journey from the seasons of Advent to Easter and will include audience participation.
The Chapel Choir is under the direction of new conductor Michael Culloton ’98. For the past eight years Culloton has been the artistic director of the Choral Arts Ensemble and Honors Choirs, two community organizations based in Rochester, Minn. Previous to these positions, he was the choral director at Winona Senior High School and assistant conductor of the National Lutheran Choir. He also served a one-year sabbatical replacement in the choral program at Luther College.
