DOUBLE BASS FESTIVAL AT CONCORDIA

    The music department at Concordia College will sponsor a Double Bass Festival Feb.7-8 in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music. The festival has activities for students of all ages.
    The festival will feature Dr. Milton Masciadri, professor of double bass at the University of Georgia; Dr. Alexandre Ritter, a Brazilian-born bassist on the faculty of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil; and Nixon Bustos, a bass instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
    The festival will include a lecture by Ritter, a Bass Clinic for students of all ages and master classes for high school and college students. The festival will conclude Friday with a pre-concert talk, “The Life of Giovanni Bottesini,” at 6:45 p.m. and a concert, “The Music of Bottesini,” by Greg Hamilton and Friends at 7:30 p.m.
      Events are free to the public. A $30 registration fee is required for bassists and this includes participation in the Bass Clinic and a Thursday evening meal.
