OEN LECTURE ON IDENTITY AND THE CHURCH AT CONCORDIA
Concordia College will present the Oen Fellowship Lecture featuring Dr. Andrew Root at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Centrum, Knutson Campus Center. The lecture, “Identity Construction, Young People and the Church,” is free and open to the public.
Root will talk about identity in the digital age and the relationship of the church to identity. He says “all our technological transformation does more to us than give us new things to buy, but in using it, it actually changes us. It has a way of impacting our very identity, or at least the ways we construct an identity.”
Root is an associate professor of youth and ministry at Luther Seminary and also the author of “The Promise of Despair,” where he discusses his ideas in more depth.
The lecture is supported by the Oen Fellowship Scholar Fund and coordinated by the Concordia College Department of Religion.
