ENCHANTED GARDENS RECITAL AND INSTALLATION AT CONCORDIA
The music department at Concordia College will present a Collaborative Performance and Installation featuring Richard Danielpour’s “The Enchanted Garden Preludes” for solo piano and sculptural work inspired by the music at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Recital Hall. With the awareness that music often inspires visual imagery, Concordia grads pianist Beth Winterfeldt ’94 and sculptor Nicole Roberts Hoiland ’97 present a live performance of the music with new sculpture.
Danielpour, a living composer, embraces a wide range of influences in his musical style, from rock and ragtime. With the “Enchanted Garden” he seeks to express both the gardens of the mind and the dreamlike qualities of memories in real life.
Winterfeldt enjoys a varied career as a performer and teacher. She currently has an independent teaching studio and serves as a professional accompanist at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minn. Roberts Hoiland currently works at Nova Classical Academy. St. Paul, Minn. Recent exhibitions include the University of Minnesota’s Larson Gallery along with galleries in Helena, Mont., and Seattle, Wash.
The performance is free and open to the public.
