THE CONCORDIA BAND TOURS CHINA
The Concordia Band, Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., is currently on a two-week performance tour of China. The band tours nationally each year and internationally every four years.
The 53 members of the band are traveling to the Chinese cities of Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu and Bejing. They are performing at the Hong Kong International School, United International College, Chongqing Number 30 High School, Southwest University and Communication University of China. The band’s repertoire features a variety of music and includes songs selected specifically for China.
In addition to performing, the students will also be visiting several famous sites including Lamma Island, the South China Botanical Garden, the ancient village of Ciqikou, Chongqing Hotsprings, the site of the Leshan Giant Buddha, Emei Mountain, the Panda Research Center, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City Palace Museum and the Great Wall.
Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering more than 60 majors, including 18 honors majors and 12 preprofessional programs.
