CONCORDIA STUDENTS IN ROTC PROGRAM PLACE IN COMPETITION

Concordia students in North Dakota State University’s Army ROTC program placed first in co-ed teams and placed 19th and 39th in the male teams at a national military competition. Abigail Peno, a freshman at Concordia College from North Branch, Minn., and Sean Williams, a junior at NDSU, placed first out of 19 co-ed teams in the Best Ranger Buddy Team Competition in Lawrence, Kan.
Of 94 male teams, Robert Billings, a Concordia sophomore from Webster, Wis., and Caleb Hamilton from NDSU placed 19th; and Ethan Glover, a Concordia freshman from Coon Rapids, Minn., and Jason Davorak from NDSU placed 39th.
Cadets trained six days a week prior to the competition and participated in nine events, starting at 5 a.m. with a 9.32-mile foot march with a 35-pound ruck sack. The next seven events, all physically demanding, tested knowledge of military tactics and skills. The final event was a 2.5-mile run through the woods.
Concordia freshman Rachel Fitcha, North Branch, Minn., and sophomore April Kuck, Billings, Mont., competed on two of the 15 female teams.
