MICHAEL CULLOTON HIRED AS CONCORDIA CHORAL CONDUCTOR
Michael Culloton, a 1998 Concordia graduate, will join the faculty of the Concordia College Music Department this fall. Culloton has accepted the position of Choral Conductor.
“Mr. Culloton brings a strong background of experience with high school, college, and community choral singing to his position at Concordia,” says Dr. René Clausen, conductor of The Concordia Choir.
For the past eight years Culloton has been the artistic director of the Choral Arst Ensemble and Honors Choirs, two community organizatons based in Rochester, Minn. Previous to thess positions, he was the choral director at Winona Senior High School and assistant conductor of the National Lutheran Choir. He also served a one-year sabbatical replacement in the choral program at Luther College.
“I am honored to join the faculty of Concordia College and will work to provide a first-rate choral education and experience to the Concordia students. My years as a student at Concordia were formative in a musical and personal sense, and I'm excited to return to the Moorhead community with my family,” says Culloton.
Culloton received his master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Arizona, studying with Maurice Skones, and is currently in the process of completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from North Dakota State University.
Culloton replaces Michael Smith, associate professor and conductor of the Concordia Chapel Choir, Männerchor and Cantabile, who retires at the end of this academic year.
