Inauguration Events Set
Apr 26, 2012“The Liberal Arts in a Global Age” will be the theme for a weekend of events surrounding the inauguration of Dr. William J. Craft as the 11th president of the college.
The celebration begins with chapel at 9:20 a.m. Friday in the Centrum. The Rev. Renee Splichal Larson ’04 will speak. She serves Heart River Lutheran Church in Mandan, N.D., a church made up of people who worship with the youth at the North Dakota Youth Correctional Center.
Following chapel, Dr. Jacqueline Bussie will give a presentation on the “Introduction of the Forum on Faith and Life.”
Saturday’s events include a seminar at 9:30 a.m. in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music. Panelists Dr. John Churchill, secretary of Phi Beta Kappa, and Dr. Earl Lewis ‘78, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs at Emory University,” will address “The Liberal Arts in a Global Age.” John Ydstie ’74, National Public Radio correspondent, will moderate while Dr. Susan O’Shaughnessy, professor of philosophy, and Dr. Linda Johnson, professor of history, will respond.
The weekend will conclude with the inauguration ceremony at 2 p.m. in Memorial Auditorium.
