Sep 19, 2011

off Ronald D. Offutt '64, who donated the lead gift for the Offutt School of Business, was presented with the North Dakota Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award on Sept. 15. His portrait will be hung alongside the award's past recipients at the state Capitol in Bismarck, N.D.

The award recognizes citizens who have earned national recognition and brought honor to North Dakota. It is the highest recognition for a citizen of the state. Offutt is only the 38th North Dakotan to receive the award.

Offutt served as a longtime member and chair of the Concordia Board of Regents. He graduated with a business degree before becoming a business partner in his father's farming operation.

He later founded RDO Equipment Co. and R.D. Offutt Co., the nation's largest network of John Deere construction and agricultural equipment dealerships and the largest producer of potatoes.
