Kernel Makes Strangest Mascot List
May 24, 2011

Kernel Cobb has a history of turning heads. Whether it is for his husky arms, grimacing smile or nape of corn silk, Concordia’s mascot is unquestionably one-of-a-kind.
That’s why his latest award by Her Campus and the Huffington Post comes as no surprise, being named to “The 10 Strangest College Mascots.”
Kernel Cobb’s list of accolades includes awards from ESPN, University Language Services and countless others. The history of the Cobber nickname originated with the cornfields that once surrounded campus.
The Kernel was unable to comment (mascots don’t speak) on his most recent award, but here is what he wrote on Twitter, “WINNING! The @huffingtonpost honored me in 10 Strangest Mascots!”
