Mar 07, 2011

joy History professor and author Dr. Joy Lintelman was recently the featured guest on the Pioneer Public Television program “Postcards” hosted by Eric Olson. During the 30-minute program Olson interviewed Lintelman about her award-winning book “I Go to America: Swedish American Women and the Life of Mina Anderson.”

Lintelman's book traces the story of Mina Anderson, a writer who emigrated from Sweden to Wisconsin and then to the Twin Cities. Anderson worked on a farm with her husband in rural Mille Lacs County. She raised seven children and contributed to rural Swedish life through her fiction, poetry and letters to Swedish American newspapers. The book won the 2010 nonfiction category in the Minnesota Book Awards.
