Cordes-Green Receives Flaat Award

Aug 26, 2011

Dr. Susan Cordes-Green, chair and assistant professor of psychology, received the Flaat Distinguished Teaching Award Aug. 25.

Cordes-Green, a member of the psychology department faculty since 1989, exemplifies the scholar-teacher model at Concordia. Her teaching makes psychology accessible and exciting to students while giving them a strong background in the discipline.

She spends hours with students outside class and engages them in conversations on the theme of responsible engagement in the world. Students describe her as a mentor, guru and a second mother.

The Flaat Distinguished Teaching Award is given annually to a Concordia faculty member who demonstrates excellence in teaching. Ole and Lucy Flaat, lifelong farmers in the Red River Valley, endowed the award.
