Need advice? Ask Carla Barnhill.

Barnhill, a 1988 Concordia graduate, was a finalist in the “Good Morning America” Dear 'GMA’ Advice Guru Search. This proud Minnesotan was selected from a pool of more than 15,000 applicants to be in the final four. The winner received a full-time job giving advice with “Good Morning America.”

As an author, editor, blogger and multitasking mother of three, Barnhill can relate to many of the struggles Americans are facing.

“This seemed like a great way to do what I like to do — help people navigate the ups and downs of life,” she says.

Barnhill says that some of the best advice she has, she has given to herself — everything from convincing herself to move across the country alone to getting married to taking a low-paying job.

“Yes, you should take the job that pays squat and makes you happy,” she says. “It will pay you back in friendships, in memories, in confidence in your ability to make a difference in the lives of other people.”

Barnhill didn't win the "Good Morning America," but she will likely continue to give good advice to those who need a bit of wisdom.
