Sue Kremser's Remarks
Remarks from the memorial service for Pamela Jolicoeur by her sister Sue Kremser:
On behalf of Pam’s family, I would like to thank the Concordia community for your help, support and the lovely reception last evening. It was wonderful to hear how much of an impact Pam had on so many people, and the incredible outpouring of love and praise for Pam brings a great deal of comfort to us. We especially would like to thank Ron and Karen Offutt for generously ensuring that Mom arrived safely.
While it makes us proud—although not surprised—to hear how much Pam has meant to Concordia, we also wanted to share with you how much Concordia meant to her. Concordia quickly welcomed her, embraced her, encouraged her, and provided an opportunity for her to make the best use of her talents.
The faculty, staff, and students here were a gift to Pam on a daily basis. Pam told us many times how her interactions with you were a source of joy and inspiration. The reception gave us the chance to match the names we heard so often with the faces of the people who meant so much to her. She was impressed not only with your Midwestern kindness, but also by your cleverness and your sense of humor.
Pam shared her joy of being here at Concordia with her family. And while we missed her terribly in California, we knew she was in the right place. Even though she was far away, we could hear her enthusiasm every time we spoke with her. She made us all feel as if we were also a part of Concordia—true Cobbers.
As proud as we were of all her accomplishments, she always made us feel that everything we did or were involved in was of equal importance. And no matter where she was, she was also very interested in the events in our lives. Being far away did not deter her from participating in family events. She made every effort to be a part of as many graduations, weddings, and special events as possible, even though she had to travel a great distance.
Pam was open to all kinds of experiences. She was always the model of careful grooming, yet game to put on the appropriate bicycling or hiking outfit to set out on her next adventure.
Pam never gave less than her best in all she did. This inspired us to follow her example. It is our shared destiny to continue following that example. P.J., we will always love and miss you.
