Students Celebrate Jolicoeur’s Life

chapel The Concordia campus community gathered to remember and celebrate the life of Dr. Pamela Jolicoeur today. It was the first opportunity that the student body had to pay tribute to the late president who died on June 9.

Students, faculty and staff read the words of Psalm 23, The Concordia Choir sang and interim president Dr. Paul Dovre spoke of Jolicoeur as a leader, friend and an example of faith. He recalled that it didn’t take Jolicoeur long to become a part of the Concordia community. Jolicoeur embraced the college’s traditions of corncobs and beanies. She even gave her best shot at leading the Cobber yell at football games.

“She could do everything well,” said Dovre, “except give less than her best.”

Jolicoeur gave the best six years of her life to Concordia, Dovre said. She refreshed lives through her vocation, commitment to excellence and understanding of leadership. She saw her vocation as “an act of response to God’s grace in service to thy neighbor,” said Dovre.

Dovre shared how Jolicoeur saw God walking with her as a companion and guide, strengthening her to serve her neighbor. And it is in the spirit of Soli Deo Gloria that Concordia will continue to remember Jolicoeur.
