Olsen’s Book Featured on Twin Cities Live
May 21, 2010
W. Scott Olsen’s new book, “Never Land: Adventures, Wonder, and One World Record in a Very Small Plane,” will be featured on KSTP-TV’s Twin Cities Live show in its “What to Read Next” segment at 3 p.m., Monday, June 7. The segment will include books with a Father's Day focus and copies of the book will be used as giveaways and contest prizes. The Midwest Booksellers Association organized the partnership as part of the "Midwest Connections Picks" program.“Never Land,” Olsen’s ninth book, is his most recent collection of essays on travel. When he’s not teaching at Concordia, Olsen makes his way across the country (and sometimes around the world) writing travel books. He is also the editor of the national literary journal “Ascent.”
Olsen also teaches a class for first-year students, “Exploration, Adventure & Risk,” in which his students learn about travel and adventure while experiencing things they may have thought they’d never do like learning to sail, flying a small plane or trying exotic foods. The inquiry class is partnered with a fall Exploration Seminar where Olsen and his students hike the West Highlands of Scotland.
Olsen is currently leading a May Seminar “Travel Writing: Around the World in 25 Days,” traveling from New Zealand to Australia, to Hong Kong then India, to Egypt and to England and back home again.
A video clip of the “TCL What to Read Next” segment will be available at Twin Cities Live after the program airs. You can also follow Olsen’s May Seminar blog.
