Production of Christmas Concert Receives Emmy®

emmy The Concordia College Christmas Concert, “Christmas at Concordia: Journey to Bethlehem,” was awarded a 2010 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Upper Midwest Chapter Sept. 25 in Minneapolis. The concert was produced by Twin Cities Public Television and awarded the Emmy® for Special Event Coverage.

The 83rd annual Concordia Christmas Concert was videotaped by Twin Cities Public Television during the 2009 performances at Concordia. The concert, created and staged for national distribution, was televised in Minnesota and North Dakota during the 2009 Christmas season and will be broadcast to PBS stations nationwide in 2010.

“This Emmy is a testament to the skill, craftsmanship, and artistic vision of the professionals at TPT, together with the gifted student musicians, conductors, mural artist, and lighting director of Concordia College which have combined their gifts to allow the magic of this production to be experienced by millions of listeners this coming Christmas season,” says Dr. René Clausen, the concert artistic director. “We are all so pleased that this long-standing Concordia tradition has been validated and affirmed in this special way.”
