CONCORDIA COLLEGE TO HOST REGIONAL
SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) have announced that Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., will host the Northwest Regional Minnesota Small Business Development Center for 2012 and 2013. The Offutt School of Business at Concordia will administer the SBDC program with a fully-staffed service office in Bemidji, Minn., beginning Jan. 1, 2012. Jaimee Meyer has accepted the position of associate director of the NW SBDC. In addition, Concordia will continue to serve as the SBDC regional host for the West Central region which serves nine counties located to the south of the northwest region.
“Concordia is committed to building on the foundation and tradition of the northwest SBDC and working with all the regional partners to assure the SBDC program remains vibrant,” said Dr. Greg Cant, dean, Offutt School of Business.
“SBDC clients will initially see little change in the services offered within the northwest region,” said SBDC Director Bruce Strong. “They plan to build on the existing framework of satellite offices to be able to offer SBDC services throughout the northwest region.”
The SBDC works with individuals who are interested in starting or growing a small business. They provide no cost, one-on-one, confidential consulting services and a full array of business training programs as well as assistance in accessing capital for small business needs.
DEED is the state’s principal economic development agency, promoting business recruitment, expansion and retention, workforce development, international trade and community development.
