CHOIRS AND BELLS CONCERT TO FEATURE VARIETY OF MUSIC
The music department at Concordia College will present a Choirs and Bells Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, in Memorial Auditorium featuring Cantabile, Männerchor, the Concordia Chapel Choir, Bel Canto, Campana and Tintinnabula.
Music from a variety of composers will be performed at the concert including “Universal Song, based on a Shaker tune; an Appalachian Folk Song; and “Jesus, I Adore Thee,” a Benedictine plainsong.
Cantabile is a first-year women’s choir, and Männerchor is a choir made up of the first-year male students. A blend of 90 voices creates the stunning sound of the Concordia Chapel Choir, all three conducted by Michael Smith.
Bel Canto is a choral ensemble comprised of upperclass women who perform locally and on campus during concerts and is conducted by Julie Hagen. Tintinnabula and Campana handbell choirs are conducted by Jessica Westgard.
The concert is free and open to the public.
