OFFUTT SCHOOL OF BUSINESS GROUNDBREAKING SCHEDULED
A groundbreaking for the Offutt School of Business at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., will take place at 10 a.m. June 2 just outside the Grant Center (southeast corner of Eighth Street and 12th Avenue South).
Interim President Dr. Paul Dovre and Ronald D. Offutt, the school’s namesake, will give remarks at the event, which will launch the repurposing of Grant Center to become the new home of the Offutt School of Business.
Gast Construction Co. has been granted the construction contract for the $12.9 million project, which will be completed in fall 2012. The space is being designed by Einhorn, Yaffee, Prescott architecture and engineering firm, as well as Foss Architecture and Interiors, and is located between two residence halls. Special features of the new Offutt School of Business facility will include smart technology, a boardroom, a trading room and a large atrium to foster conversation and relationships.
Concordia officials named the school in fall 2010 for Offutt, a 1964 alumnus and businessman. Offutt provided the lead gift for the $50 million campaign to support the undergraduate business program and facility. The chairman and CEO of R.D. Offutt Co. and RDO Equipment Co., Offutt has served as a longtime member and chair of the Concordia Board of Regents.
