INAUGURAL PRESIDENT PAMELA JOLICOEUR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED

Stephanie Barnhart of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., is the recipient of the inaugural award for the President Pamela M. Jolicoeur Endowed Memorial Scholarship. Barnhart, a communication major, is the daughter of Kenneth Barnhart, Kenmare, N.D., and Jean Barnhart, Kenmare, N.D. Barnhart will be entering her junior year this fall at Concordia.
The scholarship was established in memory of Concordia’s 10th president, Dr. Pamela Jolicoeur, to recognize emerging student leaders early in their Concordia career. Qualities for leadership ability include engagement, vision, inclusiveness and community orientation. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a second-semester sophomore to support the recipients’ junior and senior years.
“The volume of gifts creating the scholarship is a wonderful testament to the depth and breadth of the support for Pam by so many people,” says Mike Doyle, Jolicoeur’s husband. “The President Pamela M. Jolicoeur Memorial Scholarship is a continuing way to recognize Pam's gifts, talents and love for Concordia while helping to support emerging leaders for future generations.”
Jolicoeur, Concordia’s president from 2004 until her death June 9, 2010, was a scholar who served as teacher, administrator and leader at both the national and international level during her 38-year career in Lutheran higher education. Deeply committed to Concordia’s mission, she worked tirelessly helping the college distinguish itself as an innovative leader in higher education.
Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering 78 majors, including 18 honors majors, and 12 preprofessional programs.
