CONCORDIA COLLEGE TO HOLD COMMENCEMENT
Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., will present approximately 594 bachelor’s degrees and four master of education degrees during its commencement ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in Memorial Auditorium. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar will speak at the ceremony.
After serving as a partner of two leading Minnesota law firms, Klobuchar was elected in 1998 to serve as chief prosecutor for Hennepin County, where prosecuting violent and career criminals was her top priority. She was also a leading advocate for successful passage of Minnesota’s first felony DWI law.
In 2006, Klobuchar became the first woman elected to represent the State of Minnesota in the United States Senate. Since then, she has been a strong advocate for middle-class families and Minnesota values. Working Mother Magazine named her as a 2008 “Best in Congress” for her efforts on behalf of working families. She also acted quickly to obtain funding for the I-35W bridge after its tragic collapse, fought to ensure National Guard members receive full benefits earned and helped pass a strong Farm Bill.
Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering 78 majors, including 18 honors majors, and 12 preprofessional programs.
