CONCORDIA TO PRESENT VOCAL JAZZ
AND JAZZ ENSEMBLES CONCERT
The Concordia College Music Organizations will present a concert by the Vocal Jazz and Jazz Ensembles I and II at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, in Memorial Auditorium.
The Vocal Jazz will perform “Birdland,” assisted by Ferreira on keyboard and the Jazz I rhythm section; a tune from the 1931 Broadway Revue “The Band Wagon;” and two songs along with Jazz I including “Easy to Love” that features several soloists.
The Jazz I performance will include works by Sammy Nestico and Rodgers and Hart, among others.
Jazz II will perform works by Hank Mobley, Johnny Richards and Matt Harris. They’ll also perform “Duke, Hoagy & The Count,” arranged by Knudsvig, with guest soloist Nat Dickey on trombone and euphonium.
Vocal Jazz I is conducted by Dr. David Ferreira, professor emeritus, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Jazz I is conducted by assistant professor of music Russell Peterson and Jazz II is conducted by Dr. Peter Knudsvig, associate professor of music.
