CONCORDIA JAZZ ENSEMBLE CONCERT SETS EARLIER
START TIME TO INCLUDE SYMPHONIA
The Concordia College Music Organizations will present a Jazz Ensemble and Symphonia Concert Tuesday, Dec. 7 in the Buxton/Hanson Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music. Due to its recently canceled concert, the Symphonia will join Jazz I and Jazz II and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. instead of the previously announced time.
Symphonia will perform selections from their original concert program that included Rumanian Folk Dances, “Symphony No. 8 in B Minor,” “Hungarian March” and a composition by Concordia sophomore Jared Hoeft, “Shards.” Jazz I selections include “Summer Song,” “Sonata Latino” and Chick Corea’s “Quartet #2, Part 2” dedicated to John Coltrane. Jazz II will perform “Give it Up,” “Symphony in Riffs,” “Willow Weep for Me” and “Yardbird Suite.”
Jazz I is conducted by assistant professor of music Russell Peterson.
Dr. Nathaniel Dickey, assistant professor of music, will be guest conductor for Jazz II and Symphonia is conducted by Jane Linde Capistran, assistant professor of music.
The concert is free and open to the public.
