CONCORDIA SPEECH TEAM PLACES IN TOP TEN IN MID-AMERICAN TOURNAMENT
Three competitors from the Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., Speech Team were among competitors from 14 institutions taking part in a two-day Mid-American Forensics League competition held at North Central College, Naperville, Ill., and at the University of Northern Illinois, Dekalb, Ill., Sept. 25-26. The Cobbers placed in the top ten individually and as a team.
In the first day of competition at North Central College, Jen Pagh, ’11, Apple Valley, Minn., earned fifth place in After Dinner Speaking and fourth place in Poetry Interpretation; Steph Villella, ’11, Fargo, N.D., took seventh place in Persuasive Speaking and second place in Poetry Interpretation; and Andrew Eilola, ’12, Eveleth, Minn., took sixth place in Persuasive Speaking. The team took sixth place.
The second day of the tournament at Northern Illinois University, the Cobbers won the top two places in Poetry Interpretation. Pagh earned first place and Villella took second. In Program Oral Interpretation, Pagh took fourth place and Villella took seventh place in impromptu speaking. Finally in Prose, Eilola earned fifth place and Villella took sixth. The team placed fifth.
