CONCORDIA DEBATERS TAKE TOP SPOTS IN TOURNAMENT

    Four debaters from the Concordia College Forensics team started the new debate season Sept. 18-19 at a tournament hosted by the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Rapids. Emily Bosch was ranked as the third individual speaker, and Erik Walker was named top speaker of the tournament. The team of Bosch and Walker also advanced to the quarterfinal round as first seed.
      To advance to the quarterfinals, Bosch ’14, Yankton, S.D., and Walker ’13, Eagan, Minn., defeated teams from Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich., Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, to compile a 6-0 record in the preliminary rounds. In the quarterfinals, they lost a 2-1 decision to the University of Iowa.  
     Kate Engstrom ’14, Rosemount, Minn., and Nathaniel Nesiba ’13, Sioux Falls, S.D., also competed, going 2-4 in preliminaries but not advancing to quarterfinals.
