FOR F/M COMMUNIVERSITY FALL CLASSES
F/M Communiversity has a variety of courses offered for the fall session from the opera to wine, literature to jazz, WWI to the Comstock family.
From 2-4 p.m., Saturday Oct. 9 and 16, join David Hamilton, Concordia associate professor of music, and Holly Wrensch, Concordia assistant professor of music, for “Not Your Grandmother’s Opera Fairy Tale: ‘Hansel and Gretel’ on the Prairie” at Waterford at Harwood Groves, 1200 Harwood Dr., Fargo. The fee is $24.
Go “In Search of Rhine Gold: Wines of Germany, Austria and Alsace” with instructors Ron Ellingson and Sam Wai Fridays, Oct. 15, 22 and 29 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Riverview Place, 5300 12th St. So., Fargo. The fee is $100 and preregistration is required as there is limited seating.
With this year’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the book written by Harper Lee, join Tony McRae and “Remember it’s a Sin to Kill a Mockingbird: Innocence and Prejudice in the Novel and Film ‘To Kill A Mockingbird.’” The course is Saturday, Oct. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 24 from 2-4 p.m. at Waterford at Harwood Groves. The fee is $24.
Chandice Johnson will discuss “Where the Wind Blows Free: Literature of the American and Canadian Prairies” from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23 and 30 at Riverview Place. The fee is $24.
Concordia emeritus Dr. Carroll L. Engelhardt will lead the course about “The Solomon G. Comstock Family and the Birth of Fargo-Moorhead” from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 at Waterford at Harwood Groves. The fee is $24.
Instructors Russell Peterson, Allen Carter, Max Johnk and Simon Rowe will lead “Jazz Improvising 101: How Jazz Musicians Do It, the Secrets Revealed!” The course is from 2-4 p.m, Sunday, Nov. 7 at Riverview Place. The fee is $12.
Concordia emeritus Dr. Verlyn Anderson will lead “Sabotage – Resistance in Norway in WWI” from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13 and 20 at Riverview Place. The fee is $24.
F/M Communiversity, a program of liberal arts courses, offers life-long learning opportunities for people of all ages. It is sponsored by Concordia College in cooperation with Minnesota State University Moorhead and North Dakota State University.
