AMY SANNES NAMED REGION CHAIR OF
NATIONAL ACADEMIC ADVISING
Amy Sannes, director of the Academic Enhancement and Writing Center at Concordia College Moorhead, Minn., has been elected region chair, a national leadership position, for the North Central Region 6 of the National Academic Advising Association. Sannes will assume the role at the end of the NACADA annual conference in October in Orlando, Fla., and serve until October 2012.
Sannes will be responsible for representing and providing leadership to the membership within the geographic region, facilitating networking opportunities and member recruitment, identifying needed membership services for the region, establishing and maintaining a regional governing structure, and overseeing the annual regional conference, state workshops and other professional development opportunities for region members.
NACADA, with more than 10,000 members, was chartered as a non-profit organization in 1979 to promote quality academic advising and professional development and to ensure the educational development of students. It provides a network and professional identity for the thousands of faculty, full-time advisers and administrators whose responsibilities include academic advising.
