AWARD-WINNING AUTHORS TAKE PART IN
FIFTH ANNUAL NATIONAL BOOK AWARDS AT CONCORDIA
Concordia College will present the fifth annual National Book Awards March 25. Authors Colum McCann, the 2009 National Book Award winner, and Daniyal Mueenuddin, a 2009 National Book Award finalist in fiction, will be on campus for the featured Readings and Conversation hosted by MPR’s Kerri Miller at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25 in the Centrum, Knutson Campus Center.
McCann, an internationally bestselling author, creates an intricate portrait of New York City and its people in his award-winning book “Let the Great World Spin.” Mueenuddin’s book, “In Other Rooms/Other Wonders” written from his farm in Pakistan, gives the reader the sense of contemporary Pakistan from its cities to the harsh mud villages beyond.
McCann and Mueenuddin will also meet with students in master-classes during their visit. Harold Augenbraum, executive director of the National Book Foundation, will also take part in the event.
