PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE AND MARIMBA CHOIR
TO PERFORM ANNUAL HOLIDAY CONCERT
The Concordia College Percussion Ensemble and Marimba Choir, directed by Dr. David P. Eyler, will present their annual holiday concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec 12 in Memorial Auditorium on the Moorhead, Minn., campus. Viva Marimba! a community-wide marimba orchestra will also take part in the performance.
The program will include holiday favorites such as “Deck the Halls” and “Away in the Manger.” Other selections include “Normandy Beach – 1944” by David R. Gillingham, composed in commemoration of this important, yet tragic day that changed the course of World War II; “Adagio for Strings Op. 11,” by Samuel Barber, arranged by Dr. Eyler; and “Wizards in Winter” by Paul O’Neill and Robert Hinkel, arranged by Matthew Rom. This piece, an instrumental selection by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, was released on their 2004 album “The Lost Christmas Eve.” The song is often used to open their live shows and a clip of the first few seconds was used in a television commercial.
The concert, always a holiday favorite, is free and open to the public.
