GUEST FACULTY TROMBONE RECITAL AT CONCORDIA
The Concordia College Music department will present a guest faculty trombonist recital at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10 in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music.
The performance by Dr. Ken Shifrin, trombone; Dr. J. Michael Hall, trombone and Dr. Jihye Sung, piano, will feature music of the Baroque era for trombones. Concordia assistant professor Dr. Nathaniel Dickey will also perform as well as guest faculty from NDSU and MSUM.
Shifrin is a world-renowned musician with experience at the highest level as an orchestra, solo, and chamber musician. He has a Ph.D. in musicology from Oxford and many publications and presentations to his credit. Hall is professor of trombone at Old Dominion University in Virginia and also a very experienced and versatile performer, with a D.M.A. from the University of Minnesota where his thesis focused on the performance of Baroque music on the modern trombone.
The performance should be of interest to any brass musician or fan, as well as anyone interested in Baroque music performance practice. It is free and open to the public.
