Maize Receives National Award

Concordia’s quick-service café, The Maize, has been awarded a silver Loyal E. Horton Dining award. In college and university culinary arts, the ultimate professional tribute is the Loyal E. Horton Dining Award. This award salutes the most successful ideas in college and university dining.

Maizefood Points are awarded by a panel of judges from around the country based on menu, recipes, marketing, customer satisfaction, promotions and more. The Maize earned enough points to receive a silver award, the highest award given this year in the category of retail operations among small schools.

“This award makes a very positive statement about the fantastic employees who work for Dining Services and the great customers and guests we have. This is an honor that has colleges and universities across the country paying attention to Concordia’s dining department,” said Sabrina Whiting, Dining Services Marketing Supervisor.

The Maize doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon. Jason Giffey, Cash Operations Manager, says customers can expect more product variety and exciting promotions during the upcoming year.

“We are going to continue to strive for excellence in customer satisfaction and will continue to improve our services and menu,” said Giffey.

Concordia was awarded the Dining Award in July at the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) National Conference in Milwaukee, WI.
