The following is a statement from Concordia College President Pamela Jolicoeur regarding the recent news of Roxana Saberi’s conviction and sentencing:

“The news of Roxana’s conviction is devastating. The Concordia community wants to support her, as well as her family. We are willing to do everything in our power to assist with the situation, but realize that the delicacy of the matter demands that it be handled at the highest diplomatic level. The hardest part for us, as it must be for her family and friends, is that there is so little we can do to secure her release. What we will continue to do, as we have over the past months, is to pray for Roxana and her family. And we will remain hopeful that a better resolution can be attained soon.”

Saberi graduated from Concordia College in 1997 with communication and French majors.
