CONCORDIA TO PRESENT LECTURE ON AMERICA’S WATER CRISIS

    Robert Glennon will present an Environmental Lecture at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 23 in the Centrum, Knutson Campus Center at Concordia College.
    His lecture will specifically center on ground water and the overuse of aquifers. 
Glennon’s best-known publication is “Water Follies: Groundwater Pumping and the Fate of America’s Fresh Waters,” and his new book, “Unquenchable: America’s Water Crisis and What To Do About It,” will be published in April 2009. “Unquenchable” tells the shocking stories of extravagances and waste that are sucking the nation dry. Glennon warns that America's self-inflicted water crisis is spreading, and more quickly than previously thought.
    Glennon is the Morris K. Udall Professor of Law and Public Policy in the Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, where he teaches constitutional law, American legal history, and water law. He received a J.D. from Boston College Law School and an M.A. and Ph.D. in American History from Brandeis University. A recipient of two National Science Foundation grants, he serves as Water Policy Advisor to Pima County, Ariz.; as a member of American Rivers’ Science and Technical Advisory Committee; and as a commentator and analyst for various television and radio programs. 
     The lecture is sponsored by the Sustainability Task Force, the Dovre Center for Faith and Learning, the Red River Basin Commission and the Concordia Biology Department.
