CONCORDIA TO PRESENT LECTURE ON VOCATION
The Rev. Peter Marty, host of the ELCA radio ministry "Grace Matters," comes to Concordia College and will present "The Sweet Spot of Vocation" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 in Fuglestad Auditorium, Jones Science Center.
In addition to "Grace Matters," Marty is senior pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a 3000-member congregation in Davenport, Iowa, and is the son of Lutheran scholar Martin Marty. He is a frequent preacher and speaker at colleges, churches, and conferences across the country and author of more than 60 articles on leadership, preaching, and parish renewal in America. Marty recently wrote "The Anatomy of Grace," a collection of essays that explain grace to Christians today.
"This keeps the discussion about vocation alive on campus and in our community," says Dr. Ernie Simmons, director of the Dovre Center for Faith and Learning. "We want to continue reflecting on what God calls us to do."
Marty's visit is sponsored by the Dovre Center for Faith and Learning, Office of Church Relations and Campus Ministry.
Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering 78 majors, including 18 honors majors, and 12 preprofessional programs.
