CONCORDIA PRESENTS ANNUAL MIDWINTER PIANO FESTIVAL

    Concordia College will present the annual Midwinter Piano Festival Tuesday, Feb. 3-Saturday, Feb. 7. The schedule of events:

   
o 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3—Dr. Robert Chabora, chair and professor of music, Faculty Colloquium Lecture, "Malcolm Frager: America's Pianist," Birkeland Alumni Lounge

o 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3—Dr. Tibor Szász, piano recital works by Schumann and Brahms, Christiansen Recital Hall

o 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4—Masterclass with Tibor Szász, Christiansen Recital

o 7:30 p.m., Thursday Feb. 5th—Dr. Jay Hershberger, piano recital works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schumann, and the world premiere of “Sonata for Piano” by Concordia composer Dr. Steven Makela, Christiansen Recital Hall

o 7:30 p.m., Friday February 6th—Dr. Tibor Szász, piano recital works by Schubert, Beethoven, and Liszt, Christiansen Recital Hall

o 2 p.m., Saturday Feb. 7—The Concordia Trio—Dr. Gregory Hamilton,
    Cello; Johanne Cohen, violin; and Dr. David Worth, piano; with special guests Dr. Daniel     Breedon, violin and Jane Linde Capistran, viola. The group will perform works by     Haydn,     Beethoven, and Schumann, Christiansen Recital Hall

    Special guest Dr. Tibor Szász is a pianist and has written extensively about the music of Liszt, Mozart and Beethoven. Since 1993 Mr. Szász has been professor of piano at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany.
    All events are free and open to the public.
