René Clausen Choral School
Since 1998, more than 600 professional conductors and music educators have attended the René Clausen Choral School. This intensive five-day program created by The Concordia Choir director Dr. René Clausen is held annually on the Concordia campus and focuses on several aspects of conducting, including technique, performance and tonal development. The 11th annual Choral School is scheduled for July 19-23, 2008.
Young Organists Week
Students at Young Organists Week enjoy the camaraderie and social activities of other camps, while honing their church organ playing skills. Concordia’s Office of Church Relations sponsors the five-day camp at the college. This year’s camp, held each June, includes classes on organ technique, organ repertoire, music fundamentals, hymns and liturgy.
Wind Band Institute
New this summer, the Wind Band Institute offers band directors from around the country an opportunity to improve their teaching skills. Founded by Concordia director of bands Dr. Scott A. Jones, the 2008 Wind Band Institute will be taught on the Concordia campus June 23-26 by Jones and internationally renowned musicians
Andrew Boyson and Rober Duke.
Organ Institute
The Organ Institute offers a condensed version of our Young Organists Week, with a greater emphasis on new music, technique and role in churches. Organists take part in a hymn sing and practice sessions, piano and liturgy classes, and have an opportunity to purchase organ music books. The Institute is for organists at any level of proficiency, including beginning organists and is offered on campus at in Minneapolis each June.
