BiographyRacehl Horan
Rachel (Andersen) Horan taught middle school choir for ten years—one in Fergus Falls, MN, and nine in Moorhead, MN-- before coming to Concordia College in fall 2009, where she has since taught studio piano and been an active accompanist. During her time as a middle school teacher, she supervised and mentored numerous student teachers from Concordia, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND. In addition to her current work at Concordia, Ms. Horan is a church musician at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, where she directs a children’s choir, sings, and substitutes on organ and piano; she is also a substitute organist for area churches. Over the years she has worked as an accompanist for such organizations as Lake Agassiz Girls’ Choirs, FM Opera, René Clausen Choral School, and American Choral Directors Association. She has also served as vocal director for several children’s theater productions. Ms. Horan holds a Bachelor of Music Education (voice) degree from Concordia College, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in collaborative piano from North Dakota State University. She lives in Moorhead with her husband and their two children.
