BiographyJane Linde Capistran
JANE LINDE CAPISTRAN, conductor and violinist, is the conductor of the Concordia College Symphonia, instructor of violin and viola studio lessons and also a superviser of the string music education majors.
A native of Moorhead, Capistran studied violin at Concordia College with Isabelle Thompson and Robert Strava while in high school. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Bemidji State University and her Master of Arts in Violin Performance from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Capistran's public string teaching includes seven years with elementary orchestras in the Iowa City Community School District. She was also Director of Orchestras at Fargo (ND) South High School for six years. Currently, Capistran conducts the Fargo-Moorhead Area High School Youth Symphony, and serves as a guest conductor and clinician for string festivals and workshops in the upper Midwest. She is the first violinist and founding member of the Dakota Rose String Quartet and is presently interim concertmaster of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, She is also guest conductor for the FM Symphony Pops Concerts. She is the 2005 recipient of the Minnesota American String Teacher Association's Master Teacher Award
