Jonathan Ten Brink - Instructor of voice
Jonathan is an exciting young baritone "possessing considerable agility" (Grand Rapids Press). He is equally comfortable on the concert and opera stages as well as in recital work and the teaching studio.
Recent roles include Ottone in L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Alfesibeo in the North American premier of Gli Amore D'Apollo e di Daphne, Father in Hansel und Gretel, and Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro. His concert work includes performances of J.S. Bach's Cantatas 80 and 196, Christmas Oratorio, and St. Matthew Passion; Handel's Messiah; Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass; Buxtahude's Membra Jesu Nostri; and Durufle's Requiem.
He has been guest soloist with the Bach Chamber Players of St. Paul, Minnesota Oratorio Society, Minnesota Chorale, Minnesota Bach Society, Calvin College Oratorio Society,and Minnesota Orchestra. Upcoming engagements include "Tarquinius" in "The Rape of Lucretia" with the University of Minnesota Opera Theater and "Dancairo" in "Carman" with the Fargo-Moorhead Opera Company.
Jonathan is working on his DMA at the University of Minnesota where he has taught voice as a Graduate Assistant. He is an adjunct voice instructor at North Central University and an Interim Voice Instructor at Concordia College for the 08-09 academic year.
Jonathan holds degrees from Calvin College (B.A. Applied Voice) and Bowling Green State University (MM Vocal Performance) and received a certificate of completion from the International Sommerakademie Mozarteum where he studied under Dr. Richard Miller. He has participated in master classes led by Hugh Smith, Thomas Heyer, Thomas Pasatieri, Michelle De Young, and Marylin Horne.
