Doug Neill - Instructor of Tuba and Electric Bass

Doug Neill

Doug Neill is currently the adjunct electric bass and Tuba instructor at Concordia College in Moorhead and has spent the past 20 years as a teacher in Minnesota public schools teaching band, choir, elementary music and orchestra.  Mr. Neill is currently an Orchestra instructor with the Moorhead Public Schools, where he has taught since the 2002-2003 school year.  Prior to his tenure in Moorhead, Mr. Neill taught beginning band in Detroit Lakes, MN and band/choir/elementary music in Lake Park/Audubon, MN.  Mr. Neill holds a degree in Music Education from North Dakota State University where he studied tuba with Orville Eidem.  During his years there he spent part of two summers studying at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute with the Empire Brass and their tubist Samuel Pilafian.     

He is presently an orchestra teacher in the Moorhead public schools.  Mr. Neill holds a degree in Music Education from North Dakota State University, and it was during his years there that he spent a summer in the Disney World All-American College Band.  As the bass player in that group, he performed with various well-known artists such as Bobby Shew, Steve Houghton and Rob McConnell.  Locally, he is the bass player in Post-Traumatic Funk Syndrome, the Fargo-Moorhead Jazz Arts Group, the Dick King Band and many other groups.  Mr. Neill has also been the Principal Tubist with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony since 1981.  He lives in Moorhead with his wife Laurie and four sons.
