"How are you going to develop your leadership?"

This is the question that hall director Melissa Shugarman '09 and other campus leaders asked first-year students at the BREW Café, an introduction to Concordia's LeadNow® leadership development program.

Being responsibly engaged in the world (BREW) and leadership go hand-in-hand. Students were challenged to explore their leadership now and consider their own capacity for leadership.

Jenna Seery '15, Fridley, Minn., learned that there are many kinds of leaders, not just political ones, and many ways to lead.

"Becoming a leader is not just doing one thing," she says. "There are a lot of pieces to leading."

Seery is starting her journey to leadership through campus involvement.

"I want to get involved in clubs and organizations, so I can find out who I am," she says. "I am ready to gain the skills I will need to become a leader."
