Rachel (Nelson) Hollstadt '70 grew up on a farm near Rollag, Minn. She attended a one-room country school taught by her mother until it was consolidated into the Hawley school system. She graduated from Concordia with a bachelor’s degree in English and education, and chose teaching as her career based on three criteria – June, July and August. After spending the first decade of her career in secondary education, she earned a certificate in computer programming and worked in the corporate sector for a decade.
In 1990, Hollstadt founded Hollstadt & Associates, a management and information technology consulting firm that has achieved phenomenal growth. It earned a spot on the national Inc. 500 list and is consistently named one of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s annual top 25 women-owned businesses by revenue. In 2007, the firm was the sole recipient of the Minnesota Business Ethics Award. Hollstadt also has been recognized with the Wise Woman Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners and as one of the Twin Cities’ Top 25 Most Innovative Business Women.
