Why Recommend Concordia?
Because your student deserves the world...
More and more students choose Concordia because they want an education that recognizes the importance of a global perspective. Today's most sought-after careers require fluency in a second language and an experienced, working knowledge of our increasingly connected world.
Our language program is one of the best in the country, offering instruction in nine world languages - Spanish, French, German, Latin, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Hebrew (Biblical), and Norwegian. Students can even choose to live in Spanish, French or German-speaking residence halls and work summers and weekends or participate in career-related immersion learning experiences at our famous Language Villages.
The crown jewel of our award-winning internationalized curriculum is our study abroad program. Our incredible faculty have designed special weeklong Exploration Seminars, monthlong May Seminars and special Summer Abroad immersion programs that combine in-class preparation with life-changing, career-shaping trips around the world. Or students can spend an entire semester or year abroad in far-from-average programs like Social Justice, Peace and Development in India or People and the Environment in Central America.
Because your student has talent...
Our distinguished music program is reason alone to recommend Concordia. We attract plenty of music majors, but everyone from chemists to sociologists to historians - nearly one-third of all undergraduates - sing or play in one of our 17 ensembles. Our faculty give over 700 private music lessons a week.
The Concordia Choir is arguably the best a cappella choir in the nation. Every year, the choir tours nationally and internationally and has performed at every major concert venue in the United States, including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. The Concordia Christmas Concerts, featuring all five choirs and a symphony orchestra, draw more than 20,000 attendees annually and are broadcast nationally on TV and public radio.
We also offer majors and minors in theatre and art - both studio art and art history. Every year, the theatre program puts on four or five classic musicals and plays with all students invited to audition. And our beautiful Cyrus M. Running Art Gallery exhibits changing displays of work by student and faculty artists, as well as noted regional exhibits.
With 22 men's and women's NCAA Division III athletic teams and 11 intramural sports, your student can expect sports to be a big part of Concordia life. Our teams are perennial conference championship contenders that frequently qualify for national NCAA competitions. And with our state-of-the-art athletics and fitness center, there are plenty of good reasons to get out and sweat.
Because your student has a bright future....
A Concordia education is focused on the individual success of our students. With a student-faculty ratio of 13:1 and 83 percent of classes with fewer than 30 students, your student will never get lost in the shuffle.
Our expert faculty members are dedicated mentors who will help your students discover their academic passions and achieve professional success. Sixty-four percent of our alumni say they keep in touch with one or more of their professors, even years after graduation.
We believe in a "practical" liberal arts education that combines a strong arts and science curriculum with hands-on career training. Whichever of our 61 majors your student chooses, it could lead him or her to do original research alongside experienced faculty members. And if your student chooses one of our 12 preprofessional programs - from medicine to law, dentistry to engineering - the prospects of getting into a top-caliber graduate school are very good.
Our alumni have incredible acceptance rates for graduate and professional schools. Just look at the numbers:
- 88 percent acceptance rate into medical school (in 10 years surveyed)
- 93 percent of graduates get into law school.
- 96 percent of surveyed graduates have jobs in their field or are in graduate school within six months of graduation.
Because your student wants to make a life, not just a living...
At Concordia, we believe professional success is nothing without personal fulfillment. As a Lutheran college, we believe a meaningful life is grounded in Christian acts of leadership and service. In every facet of campus and academic life, the Concordia experience is always a working partnership between intellect and faith. Over 76 percent of our graduates say Concordia helped them integrate faith with other aspects of life.
Get to know Campus Ministry to see how many incredible opportunities your student will have to praise, serve and explore his or her personal religious beliefs among a diverse and intercultural campus population.
With our amazing "globalized" curriculum and study abroad programs, our students are taught to go out and do good in the world. It's no wonder that the John Templeton Foundation recently named Concordia one of its "top character-building colleges." And it's no surprise that Concordia graduates become respected and trusted leaders in their communities and churches.

Concordia is committed to advancing environmental sustainability in its operations and curriculum.
