Admissions
Full Time PSEO
Available for Minnesota high school seniors who live outside a reasonable commuting distance.
What is the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program?
The Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEO) enables public school students to enroll in courses at eligible postsecondary institutions in Minnesota, including Concordia. PSEO encourages rigorous educational pursuits and provides a wider variety of course options to high school students.
Who can apply?
Any 12th-grade student who is a Minnesota resident and attends a Minnesota school outside a reasonable commuting distance may apply for full-time admission. Concordia College welcomes strong applicants interested in pursuing a new and challenging experience during their senior year in high school.
How do I apply for PSEO at Concordia?
You and your parents should first discuss this option with your high school guidance counselor and then fill out an application for admission. Include two references (one from your guidance counselor), a copy of your most current high school transcript, and the Minnesota Access Application form which is a supplement for PSEO applicants. An ACT or SAT score is not required for PSEO admission but will be needed in future semesters to determine scholarship eligibility. Since Concordia is a selective college, you must meet all admission standards to be accepted.
When should I apply?
You may apply anytime during your junior year. Acceptance into the PSEO program at Concordia is competitive. Your acceptance will be based on your academic progress, references, and available space.
Where would I live?
Full-time PSEO students are required to live in our residence halls. National research studies show students who live on campus achieve greater academic success. The college feels strongly about providing this positive academic environment for incoming students, including those participating in the PSEO program. Once you are accepted to Concordia, sending a $200 deposit reserves your place in a residence hall.
Will I receive financial aid?
The cost of tuition and fees at Concordia is paid in part by the state of Minnesota. The remainder of tuition and the cost of your books are covered by the college. You and your family are responsible for room, board, and the cost of optional opportunities such as music lessons or international travel. Current costs are available online. You are not eligible for regular financial aid because you have not graduated from high school. However, PSEO students receive assistance from both the state of Minnesota and Concordia College. Most PSEO students decide to remain at Concordia to complete their college career. Many forms of scholarships and financial aid are available to students after the completion of their PSEO year.
What classes can I take?
Prior to registration, you will complete a High School Graduation Requirement form with your high school guidance counselor. You will then work with Concordia’s assistant registrar and/or your faculty adviser to ensure you are registered for all courses required by your high school. As a full time PSEO student, you can register for 12 to 17 credits per semester. Due to state guidelines, PSEO students are unable to take religion classes or those courses that have an additional fee (i.e., scuba diving or ceramics). The vast majority of Concordia courses do not require an additional fee and are open to PSEO students. PSEO students should consider only 100- or 200-level courses. A current listing of all courses is available online on the Registrar’s Office page.
When do I register for classes?
You will join the incoming first-year students at Summer Orientation in June to register for your classes, meet other new students, and learn more about the resources available to help you succeed at Concordia.
