Programs of Study

Physical education majors are prepared for K-12 teaching certification; health majors for certification to teach in grades 5-12. Many students complete double majors in these fields for greater employment flexibility.

Majors in non-teaching health are prepared for careers in public and community health, and employment at volunteer agencies like the American Cancer Society and the Arthritis Foundation. Majors may also sit for accreditation as a certified health education specialist (CHES).

A minor in coaching is taught by experienced collegiate coaches who will tailor instruction to meet your specific coaching interests. A valuable practicum experience in coaching is also available.

Upon graduation, exercise science majors are qualified to sit for the certification exam for one of two accrediting organizations, the American College of Sports Medicine or the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
