Barry Goldwater Scholarship Program- http://www.act.org/goldwater  The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was created in 1986 to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and to foster excellence in these fields. Nominees for Goldwater Scholarships must include in their nomination materials a statement of interest in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering.   Applicants must be a full-time matriculated sophomore or junior.

The Fulbright Grant - www.iie.org/fulbright/ The Fulbright Program is designed to give students, artists, and other professional opportunities to pursue graduate study and research in over 100 nations. It is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities for students, scholars, and professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.  Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree before the start of the grant and be a U.S. citizen.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship-http://www.gatesscholar.org/  This scholarship was created in perpetuity as an international scholarship program to enable outstanding graduate students from outside the United Kingdom to study at the University of Cambridge. The Trustees are required to award scholarships on the basis of a person’s intellectual ability, leadership capacity and desire to use their knowledge to contribute to society throughout the world by providing service to their communities and applying their talents and knowledge to improve the lives of others. The Gates Cambridge Scholarships are available for graduate study or for study for a second Bachelor's Degree.

Marshall Scholarships – http://www.marshallscholarship.org  The purpose of the Marshall Scholarship is to finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom in a system of higher education recognized for its excellence.  Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States by the time the scholarship is taken up.

The Mitchell Scholars Program http://www.us-irelandalliance.org/wmspage.cfm?parm1=34  The Mitchell Scholars Program is a national competitive fellowship sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance. The Mitchell Scholars Program is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to public service and community. Up to twelve Mitchell Scholars are chosen annually for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Rhodes Scholarship – http://www.rhodesscholar.org   Applications are sought from talented students without restriction as to their field of academic specialization or career plans although the proposed course of study must be available at Oxford, and the applicant’s undergraduate program must provide a sufficient basis for study in the proposed field.   Selection committees are charged to seek excellence in qualities of mind and in qualities of person, which in combination, offer the promise of effective service to the world in the decades ahead.

Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships –http://www.rotary.org/en/StudentsAndYouth/EducationalPrograms/AmbassadorialScholarships/Pages/ridefault.aspx  The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas.  The program sponsors academic year scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies.  While abroad, scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups.  Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country.  Applicants must have completed at least two years of college-level coursework or equivalent professional experience before commencing their scholarship duties.
