A Perfect Fit

johnsonIn February, Casey P. Johnson '11, Jamestown, N.D., received the phone call every college graduate dreams about – an early job offer.

A call from Cargill meant that Johnson, who majored in business management and economics (finance track), could finish his final semester without worrying about polishing his résumé and interview skills.

Instead, he could apply classroom learning to his future career as a finance and accounting associate in Cargill's treasury department.

"It's a perfect fit for me," Johnson says.

The summer before his senior year, Johnson worked with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. as a bank examination intern. The experience secured his desire to work in the finance industry. As he researched companies he wanted to work for, Cargill quickly rose to the top of his list.

While a student at Concordia, Johnson participated in the business club, Phi Beta Lambda, and Colleges Against Cancer. He tutored peers in economics and even hosted a sports talk show on KORD radio.

His broad experiences caught the attention of Cargill leadership.

"Every employer wants someone who has the ability to learn," Johnson says. "The demands of the coursework here and the liberal arts prepare you well to learn and adapt and take on new challenges."
