Announcements for Advisers About Courses

Nov. 2, 2007 - Theatre 380

As part of our unique course rotation system, Theatre is offering a special topic in the spring semester:  Thr 380 (.5) Careers in the Arts, which meets on Friday from 1:20 to 2:30 and is open to the general student population.

Within the class, students with an interest in the Fine and Performing Arts will be encouraged to explore individual projects in Career Management and practical JobSeeking ideas and skills.

The Career Center provides various levels of assistance to our students, but the major premise of the course is Creative Possibilities.  For example, Theatre alumni not only teach, but serve in the Peace Corps, the ministry, corporate administration, business and accounting, healthcare services and medicine, arts management, and the travel industry.  It wasn't only the major that made the difference, it was the creatively minded student with an aggressive plan for job searches "before" graduation.

We've also added two Thr 280's Individualized Study so that interested students can fill out a full course by adding Stage Management (.25) or Theatres of the FM Area (.25)

Oct. 29, 2007 - Political Science Courses
When advising students, please consider two new 380 courses offered by Dr. Ken Foster of the Political Science Department, entitled Chinese Politics and The Politics of Development.  Students may also petition for the courses to count for Global Studies credit, if they wish.
